The Incorporated Trustees of Initiative for Rehabilitation of Indigents (INRI) has filed a suit at the High Court Umuahia against the former Governor of the state, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu for non account of stewardship of his administration.

The non- Governmental Organization (NGO) with its headquarters in Enugu is demanding a thorough account of stewardship to be rendered by the former governor whom they are accusing of financial recklessness.

Counsels to the NGO Chief Josiah Tony and Mrs. Salome Akabuike, explained that the group which has the objective of caring for the indigents and the less privileged in the society, saw it as an affront on Abia populace for the administration of the former governor Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu to have remained adamant in accounting for its eight (8) year administration in the state.

The group in the suit also urged the sitting governor Dr. Alex Otti to compel his predecessor through the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to appear and defend his stewardship for Abians in the two (2) terms of four (4) years each in the state.

Delivering judgement on the matter, the Presiding Judge, Justice A. O. Chijioke commended the group for its initiative which he said was for the overall interest of the state.

Justice Chijioke however, temporarily struck out the matter and advised the Plaintiff Counsels to re-phrase the dictates on the reliefs sought in the suit inorder to conform with the High Court Procedures.

Correspondent reports that non of the Respondents appeared for the matter.
